The monastery "St. Nikolaj Srpski" is located at the foot of Sokolska planina, below the highest peak of Rožanj, 15 kilometers away from Ljubovija. It represents the natural border between Azbukovica and Radjevina. It has a special meaning in the tradition of the Serbian people, above all it has remained a symbol of invincibility and one of the last strongholds of the Turkish government in Serbia.
Throughout the existence of the fortress, its suburb, protected by a palisade and later by a wall and fortification, spread along this building. The monastery is the endowment of the Bishop of Sabac, Mr. Lavrentije. It is dedicated to St. Bishop Nikolaj Velimirović, who is celebrated on May 3. The church, in the altar of which is kept a part of the relics of St. Bishop Nikolaj, was built in 1994 and belongs to the Moravian style. The wood-carved iconostasis was made in the Baroque style and gilded with 24-carat gold, while the icons in the Byzantine style were painted and donated to the monastery by Sister Krstana Tasić, a famous icon painter. Within the monastery complex there is a museum, a boarding house and a larger accommodation facility "Dom Nikolaja Velimirovića", which has an accommodation capacity that can accommodate 200 guests.
Since 2001, an action called "Moba" has come to life in the monastery, which gathers Serbian youth from the diaspora. Over time, our children lose their national and religious identity abroad, so the main goal of this action is to learn the language of their fathers and renew ties with the homeland of their ancestors.
